yes we can

Here is the Yes We Can music video.

dummy for love

Since I have decided today is officially Obama day, here are the photos posted by Katrina on Small Souvenirs a while ago that I absolutely fell in love with too. I am so excited to be involved in such an enthralling and important election, and I feel as thought it is already such a huge step in the betterment of the world.

I just returned from a leadership conference in London, and although we have no say in the matter, it was so blatantly pro-Obama it made me laugh out loud! Once as we entered the crystal ballroom for a seminar, they were playing an Obama promotional video! Granted, it did fit with the theme (it was a musical "Yes we can!" video), but I found the situation humorous nonetheless. I hope America made the right decision today! I love this picture posted on Honey in Your Tea:

the halloween scene

Halloween was good, but not great. However, this morning Kylie, Emma, Sarah and I went to Angels Diner for a giant breakfast, which was amazing! I also got an interview with the Bay tomorrow, so hopefully that will go as well as I want it to. I spent my time doing my makeup and hair while watching all of the Sabrina the Teenage Witch Halloween specials, which was actually great. Hands down the favourite costume I saw was my friend Ian's, whose Halloween party we went to. He created a Megatron costume entirely out of cardboard boxes, which he then painted. It was surprisingly intricate and well crafted, and we were all deeply impressed! (Below is a very poor quality photo of his costume, hopefully a better one will emerge in the next few days.)

Now I am already starting my Christmas list. Expect that later! The Christmas season is my favourite, and I absolutely adore buying and wrapping presents, so I am very much excited about the upcoming season. However, even amongst the oozing love I'll feel for everyone around me, the cheesey Christmas moments, the warm drinks, and everything else I love about Christmas, it's also a time when I'll feel a little lonely. However, I won't get preemptive about this! For now it is just time for cheer, and I have an amazing new roll of wrapping paper from Ikea, which is white with a black paisley pattern on it. If anybody knows of an amazing gift wrap company OR somebody who brings gift wrapping as a new art form, please let me know!

a river of candy corn runs through it

Happy Halloween!

I'm going out to a couple of parties and Rocky Horror Picture Show dressed as Medusa. More later!

the pill

So yesterday I watched Stranger Than Fiction because Sarah was talking about it and it made me want to again. It was everything I remembered, and it made me happy.

Then Anabela at Field Guided wrote a post about Toast, which also made me want to look more into it again. I loved how some of the photos reminded me of my time in Italy, which was my favourite time in the world. Here is a ridiculously long collection of some of my favourite photos:

And here are some items I am coveting:

clueless

I've got a lot going on right now, and I wish I had some more down time and time to be creative. Jennie stayed with me for the weekend though, and we had an amazing time. We ate a lot of focaccia bread, watched a lot of Arrested Development, and made a Halloween themed gingerbread house (which is much more difficult than it looks.)

This is the one side left standing, with a sugar ghost and pumpkin fudge made to look like hay bails, and gum balls pumpkins stacked on top.

Here's the worst part. It was standing for a while, with candy corn lining the roof, but it slowly slid and collapsed.

And that is supposed to read "RIP" in jelly beans. I would really love to know how to make a quality gingerbread house someday.

Here are the new shoes I was talking about. My scarf is in the way, but you get the gist of it. I'm in love!
On Saturday I went on a tour of U of T, and I love it more than ever. It is this virtual oasis inside the bustling Toronto, and it has these hidden pocket courtyards surrounded by old stone, vine covered buildings from the 1800's.
